Glover sentenced to Life without Parole

Albert Glover, III and Michael Dawson, Jr. were inmates at Baldwin State Prison. The trial began with jury selection Monday. The State presented 12 witnesses and the Defendant presented 3 witnesses. The trial concluded on Thursday, June 9, 2022. The jury went out at 10:40 a.m. and returned with a verdict at 12:11 p.m. The jury found Glover guilty on all three counts, Malice Murder, Felony Murder, and Aggravated Assault. During sentencing, the Defendant addressed the Court, showing no remorse, and said "At least I get to see sunshine tomorrow, unlike someone, we all know who." Judge Amanda S. Petty sentenced Glover to Life without Parole.

Two men went into cell 24 and only one came out alive. Christmas Eve/Christmas Day 2019, the Defendant (Glover) attacked the victim (Dawson) while he was asleep in the bottom bunk. There was no fight. The Defendant had no injuries and the only person injured was the victim. After the Defendant killed Dawson, he pulled the sheets up to his neck, placed a hat on his head, to make it look like the victim was sleeping. The next morning, when breakfast was passed out the Defendant took both trays, eating them both. Shortly after 8:00 a.m., the Defendant alerted the correctional officer making rounds that his cellmate was unresponsive.

The Defendant took the stand and admitted to killing the victim. The Defendant claimed it was in self defense after the victim touched his chest. The Defendant testified that the victim never got off the bed. During cross-examination, when asked about making it look like the victim was asleep, the Defendant responded "he was asleep and still is."
