Burney's conviction upheld by the Supreme Court

More than a decade has passed since the tragic killing of Joseph Kitchens. A legal chapter has finally come to a close for the citizens of Jones County and, more importantly, the family of the victim. The Supreme Court of Georgia has affirmed the conviction handed down by 12 Jones County citizens. It is the fervent hope of this Office that Mr. Burney will, as it was the order of the Superior Court, spend the rest of his days behind bars. We know that the pain of losing their loved one will never be eased but at least they may close this chapter in this horrific saga. The case was tried by Stephen A. Bradley and Dawn M. Baskin. It was argued on appeal by Dawn M. Baskin.
